THCA hemp flower is considered lawful under federal law, as outlined in the 2018 Farm Bill. This legislation distinguishes between legal hemp and illegal marijuana based solely on delta-9 THC levels, not THCA. THCA (Tetrahydrocannabinolic Acid) is the natural precursor to THC, the compound responsible for the psychoactive effects of cannabis. In its raw form, THCA won’t get you high. However, when THCA is heated—through smoking, vaping, or cooking—it undergoes a process called decarboxylation, converting into THC. This conversion makes it psychoactive, producing effects similar to traditional cannabis.
